Disney Channel Russia is a future television channel owned by Disney-ABC Television Group, which will broadcast in Russia and other CIS countries. It may replace Jetix, but it might as well launch as a separate cable channel. It was completely cancelled in early 2010.
While Disney previously planned to launch Disney Channel Russia as an over-the-air service in 2009, their deal with a Russian media company was rejected by Russian authorities. Therefore, Disney Channel will instead start as a cable and satellite channel, and will be made available via the regular operators (such as NTV Plus). A registration request was filed in 2010 with the Russian media authority Roscomnadzor.[1]
